Israel's National Planning and Building Committee has introduced a significant regulation mandating that all new buildings within the country must install rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems.
The policy stipulates that all new non-residential buildings with a roof area exceeding 250 square meters and standalone residential buildings with a roof area greater than 100 square meters must install PV systems as required. Specifically, all standalone residential buildings must install a PV system with a minimum capacity of 5 kilowatts.
For new non-residential buildings with a height below 42 meters, the required PV capacity must be equivalent to half of their roof area divided by 10. This means that if a non-residential building has a roof area of 1,000 square meters, its PV installation capacity should be at least 50 kilowatts.
