On July 25, US Revkor Energy Holdings Inc and German industrial equipment supplier H2 Gemini Technology Consulting GmbH announced plans to build a solar cell and module factory in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
The two companies said in a joint statement: "Under the terms of the cooperation, Revkor H2 Gemini will establish high-efficiency HJT photovoltaic cell and module production sites in multiple locations, aiming to achieve 20GW production capacity by 2026. The first phase of the project will focus on building an annual output of 5GW production plant, which will be commissioned in the second quarter of 2024."
In the cooperative project in Utah, H2 Gemini is responsible for enhancing HJT/perovskite manufacturing equipment, as well as providing project management, delivery, implementation of production process and transfer of intellectual property technology for HJT production line.
Revkor will provide production and R&D funding for the project, which is expected to exceed billions of dollars. At the same time, the company is applying for funding from several U.S. policies, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the Department of Energy's loan guarantee program and the Chip Act, among others. The Department of Economic Development and the governor's office in Salt Lake City, Utah, have also been asked to provide financial support.
In addition, there are plans to establish a research center as a second 1-million-square-foot facility in the production complex. It is reported that the goal of the cooperative project is to use the manufacturing and research center in Utah to promote the advancement of perovskite and graphene, plastic recycling and new tire vulcanization methods.
